Cleaning up Chass

2015 SOWW Chass Cleanup a success!!

Twenty five Chass neighbors and two other volunteer teams today did a very thorough cleanup of the river, canals, boat ramp, river camp sites, and a main roads in Chassahowitzka!

We had at least 60 volunteers help in this annual Cleanup.  It was another great success!

We owe a debt of gratitude to everyone that lent a hand and dedicated just a couple of hours of their Saturday morning to help accomplish a major Chass Cleanup.

Chassahowitzka residents volunteer to adopt local roads in effort to keep our neighborhood looking good!

An effort has begun to enlist volunteers to adopt a road for cleanup.  The goal is to get volunteers for all major streets in Chass, and pick up litter there.  The hope is not only to make things look better, but to set an example and reduce littering.

If you want to help by adopting your street, or any part of Chass, please let us know.  Ben is coordinating this effort, and will love to hear from you.  Email Ben at, or call him at 352-610-6704 or (c) 727-217-5971.

Current volunteers and their adopted streets are:

  • Ben – McClung Loop
  • Charlie & Sherry – West Twin Cabal Lane
  • Cindy – Pitcher Point
  • Lynda – Riviera Dr
  • Otto & Barbara – Riviera Dr around Nectar
  • Bill – Chassahowitzka Street, US 19 to Riviera
  • Jim & Marilyn – East end of Chassahowitzka Street (winter)
  • Dave & Linda – Miss Maggie Drive from bridge to hotel
  • Darlene and Steven –  the Community Center and bus stop area (winter)

We could use your help!  Much of Chass is still up for adoption.  We could really use the following volunteers:

  • Miss Maggie around the convenience store (Riviera and to the east)
  • East end of Miss Maggie
  • Miss Maggie from Simril Ct to the camp ground and boat ramp
  • All our many side streets you live on
